What is a live scan?
A live scan is an electronic way to capture your fingerprints without the mess of ink and paper. A live scan is done with trained live scan operator and the assistance of technology to get clear, digital prints.
The results are then transmitted to the California Department of Justice. From there the DOJ will send a response to the requesting agency. If you have no criminal history, the results should be sent in 3-7 business days.
Fingerprinting is a biometric based background check used by government agencies to identify individuals. It is often necessary in certain fields of work or when adopting a child. If fingerprinting is requested you need to get it done even if you have already been fingerprinted before.
